hi all from germany!

Ive got a 83 (82 lookalike) and ive had it bored and new piston and rings and gaskets, while it was at the shop i took a OEM filter i have in for them to fit to.

Well now ive got it back when i eventually get it to kick over it will bog when i give it throttle, it will rev good and then suddenly start, i can sometimes stop it from bogging but then it bogs anyway.

So Ive cleaned the carb, and reeds and also put gasket sealer all around the inlet pipe incase of any tiny holes. i let this set for a day.

Well after putting it all back together and a good few impatient hours of fiddling its back together - but its still the same :bash:

im now going to try something else on the intake valve like some strong DIY glue as here in germany its hard to find parts and when i buy on ebay from ebay.com i get no luck as no one ships to my country!

Please could someone help me,

i think i have to much oil as when i take the screw out it just leaks for ages. its also sludgy - maybe this is causing it?!!!!

Ive had a new spark plug and connector, new gasoline in the tank and in my country we run the ratio of 30:1 to 5 litres which is

5 litres = 5.28344102 US quarts
30:1 = 0.175410242 US quarts (166ml of oil)

Im running a little bit more jsut a cap full to run the engine in, well when i eventually get to go.

i dont think i need re jetting as ive nothing new or anything needing it to be re-jetted. floats are not stuck and clean - i went over them with compressed air.

i also have to give my bike some throttle to get it started, it never starts if i dont use throttle. and it starts with choke off instead of on which i guess is a good thing...

anything else i think of i will post! but someone shed some light!

also please explain the best you can in detail.

ive took the air box out and took the filter out and the golden part the fitler goes on. ive took carb off and reeds so you know what ive took out!

Pet**** is running fine and flowing good, overflow is fine and is not blocked have took hose out both sides and gas gushed out so theres no clog!

It sounds like you may be lean ( too much air in the air/fuel ratio ). Does it run better with the choke on ? If yes, then that's the problem, and the solution is probably locating an air leak or changing to larger jet.

You can also partially restrict the air filter ( cover half of it with tape ) to test the same thing - if it runs better, it was lean.

If that wasn't the problem, please repost and tell us what is stock and what has been changed. For example , is the air box, air filter and exhaust all stock ?

I assume we are talking about a 250r, right ?

Meine deutche ist sehr schlecht !

I think ive found the reason, i havent soked the filter in oil! so i will try this then your suggestion!

I have stock reeds, exhaust, filter, carb, jetting etc! most is stock apart from handle bars.

Hi all its redgy (4me2)

ive been out side and oiled my airfilter as i didnt have it oiled so that was possible be the problem.

well it fired up after 2 kick and idled and i revved it and let it idle then it cut out, so i adusted the carb to stock setting and started it after 4 kicks.

so i drove off, it sounded a bit rough and i think i got in in to 3rd gear, so up the top of the road i forgot to change gear and was turning around and it cut out, so i popped it in to neutral and tryed starting it - no go! it wont start. i noticed there was a puddle of gas on the floor and it was coming from the bottom of my carb the overflow pipe. i tapped the carb and still doing it.

it dont it the other day when i cleaned the carb and put it back, so i tapped it and it worked, now it again!

so please help me now further

Take the carb apart, and remove the float and give it a shake. If you hear any fuel sloshing around inside the float, then that's your problem. You can also test by submerging the float in a pot of hot ( not boiling ) water, and looking for air bubbles coming out. Replace it if it's leaking.
If the float isn't leaking, check the needle valve and the valve seat in the carb, looking for any dirt or rust or cracks that would prevent the valve from sealing up tight.
If everything looks OK there, make sure your float is adjusted to the correct height ( which I don't know, but someone hear will ).

The poor running and gas leaking problem sounds like the float valve isn't shutting off the fuel when it should. That would explain poor running and the leak.

Good Luck - let us know what happens . . .
