I bought a 85 250SX new in 86 when I was 16 and kept it for about 5 years or so when I traded it for a 85 Tecate, then a 86 250R, etc. Recently I bought my neighbors Dad's 85 250SX which is pretty much mint. I just replaced the 22x11x8's with a set of 18x11x8 Carlisle Badlands and another set of 20x10x9 Factory 300EX rims/tires. I know I cut top end by switching to smaller tires but I really hate the marshmellow feel of the 22's. Sucks we can't just change a sprocket. Other than rims and tires, what other mods are anyone running on these and who sells aftermarket parts for a 20 yr old trike that was not the most popular or fast.
Anyone know how many HP these made and what the redline is? DO they have a rev limiter?

I belive they make in the nieghborhood of 18hp, I think it redlines at about 9,000 rpm maybe a little more. I had a set of badlands, they are great sports type tire.

A trx250x makes 15hp stock and a 300ex makes just under 17hp stock. I highly doubt an SX makes more then these so I'll bet it's closer to 13-14hp and 9000rpm would be lucky.

well i think cobra sells the only performance noise can available now adays. but what i did was i totally cut the arrestor off, it sounds really good and there is a noticable gain in power, the other thing i did was install a k&n, take the cover top off to experience the full effect.i am toying with the dail a jet, i may go for it soon. but the best mod for any atv/c is tires. i have mudlites and they grip like a bugger and makes the trike pull hard.i was playing with my buddy who has a stock 350x and he was shocked how i kept up with him.:demon:
