I have this 1986 KLF300 (I know it's an 4 wheeler but I figured this was a generic engine problem) and the thing is running odd. It will only stay running with the choke on, and if you try to ride it with the choke on it spits and sputters a lot (idels fine w/choke on). I tried to ride it up the driveway and the header pipe became glowing orange and I shut it off. I know it has a leak where the header pipe goes into the rest of the exhaust, but would these problems be a carb issue, timing, or maybe a valve issue??? Any help would be great. I tried cleaning out the carb but the diaphram in the top of the carb that moves the slide seemed to have expanded and didn't fit as well, this matter???? Thanks again.
