Curious if it will work....

Pros and Cons if you know of any....

The only thing I am worried about is it might take away too much Back pressure..Or is that something I should worry about???

If that is the Case....Would Stock Mufflers be the thing to have on it???

Just kicking this Idea around...Thought I would get some opinions before I spent alot of money:D

I don't think you're going to get any more power vs a good after market exhaust system.

If anything, you're going have extra weight from the extra silencer and piping.

It's more cosmetic than performance.

Well there would be no powergain because its going to be restriced by lowest flowing one. Since there is only one piston you would want both exhaust to flow evenly.

I am thinking about doing this to darrens X because it sounds pansy anyways and what would it hurt.

You could tune them to play a chord!!:headbang:

I helped with race cars some. I know for a fact. If you have the same length headers, the better the performance. You might be able to make your own 2 into 1 exhaust? Just a thought.
Make them EQUAL length to the muffler.

I would check these (http://www.lteracing.com/) guys out. I have seen some 350X engines in 300EX chassis with dual exhaust before, and I had plans on doing it to mine too, but sold the quad before I ever got around to it. I haven't heard of any troubles save for the jetting that is needed.

Thanks for the tips guys but I am still a little confused...

I have two people saying that it wont hurt but wont improve performance..

And two of you Kinda Hinting that it will improve if done Right..

Im kinda on the Fence here...I want it to Look  AND Perform..

Thanks for that link Speedbump that is some nice stuff they have there...:headbang:

if run right id will work but wont give much performance gain due to the diffrent restrictionson each side. but that can be cured if u fabricate each side and only us ethe flanges that connect to the head and mabey the bend and fab up everythign else. and i wouldnt use a 350x silencer, i woudl use somethgin liek a 200x dual silencers.and just run it all the same diamiter as the first few inches of the header. but the main thing is just keep it flowin.

Man, those pipes would look SICK on my bike. I wonder if the 400ex pipes would come close to fitting:shocked:

From Mickey Dunlap
you can build 10 different pipes and not really see more than 1 HP between all of them but as you build a motor the right pipe can make all the difference. The reason being, head pipe diameter can adjust your torque up and down, head pipe length will adjust where your power comes in at and the muffler system or megaphone on the end of that tuned length will also make a difference.

head pipe diameter = obviously the diameter of the pipes coming out of the head. When building an exhaust system like this you have to remember that bigger is not always better. To big of pipe and you can loose a lot of torque. On a motor this small (21 cubic inch for you race guys) it doesn't take much to be bigger then needed.

head pipe length = the length from when the pipes leave the motor and join together. Even though it's a single cylinder motor, tying these pipes together is an important factor when designing a pipe. When you run them all the way back without joining them you loose an important part of tuning.

Now the reality is as Mickey said in his opening statement, you’re probably not going to loose more then 1 hp doing this. What you are going to loose it the ability to have the best tuned system you can. So if you’re looking for more of a trick looking exhaust system then go for it. If you looking for the best tuned exhaust system then I would suggest staying away from it because you won’t pull your best power out of a motor like this with dual exhaust.

I wish my math teacher could have said it like that:doh: :hail:

I've seen it done on 2 that was at a hill shoot one time. looks and sounds good. Also in 95-96 I had a mag that had one in it. Go for it. I also thought about doing mine the same way.
