The cdi box is located under the seat and fenders on the right side of frame inside......It has some plugs and wires coming into it. I am confused on the "plate"?

There is no adjustment to the CDI on a 350x

that is what i want to do if there is a way. you see i adjusted my cam and i am pretty sure that i have it adjusted right. now i think i need to adjust the spark timing if there is any way to do that? because it is still not running right. you can give it about 1/4 throttle and it acts normal but anything after 1/4 it just backfires and boogs down???

This sounds like more of a fuel issue.....But lets start your crank is set at top dead center?? Aligning the t marks.....you rotated counter clock wise till piston is set at top W/ rocker arms loose? Then you check your valve clearences?? Intake at .08 exhaust is the same.. if not adjust till there is a drag from a feeler gauge....

Next is your decompression Rotate your flywheel to align up with the T mark Counter clockwise .....make sure your piston is tdc on the compression strokes, Measure your free play...Should be at .5 to 1.5 not enough is gonna give you the wild engine idle

We will start there how s my reading from the book hehe i am not sure how much this will effect with mods.

Nothing wrong with that Jenn. I would rather have someone reading it out of a book and getting it right. Then to have them try to tell you from memory when they did it 10 years a go.

i adjusted the valve lash and that helped out the idle but it didnt help much on any other problem that i am having. and i am not sure what to measure when you say decompression (the one .5-1.5)? and i went and got 91 octane gas and that did not help. maybe it needs rejetted?????

It says measure the free play at the tip of the decompressor shaft arm. (.5-1.5)

You prob will need to rejet.....Plus have you check your ignition timing

i did not know that you could adjust the ignition timing on it. how do you do it???

After you have check and made sure the other 2 are set up everything back together .....you need a timing light and tachometer.....Remember the fire mark?? the second notch....(you need to pull of course timing hole cap) the speed should be between 1400 = or - 100 at an idle. Timing is correct if aligned up with index mark. (quick tip white out or nail polish will brighten fire mark)

Raise engine speed to 1800 +- 200 it should start to advance
3500+- 200 it should start to cease The index mark being in between the full advance marks

if the timing is off how do you adjust the timing to make it right????

umm I am not so sure I wanna go there...........lets makes sure it is off first. but if it is you will need an ohm or multimeter reader.
