well..my stator reads 285..which should be ok by the book that syas at least 275....the coil i dont believe is bad..i think it may be the cdi..heres how it started...i was racing a raptor 660 one day..yes i know...why try..anyway..all the sudden it feels like its going to shut off..but it doesnt...it goes..at a really slow rpm...i get home yes riding like that..better than pushing 2 1/2 miles...and i take off the cdi pulser to see if the pin fell out again...well it didnt..i checked to see if it was still in time..it was..i was thinkin..well maybe blown headgasket?? so i tore the engine down..nothing wrong...untill i get the idea of the flywheel key maybe shearing..well thats what happened..if i would have fixed that it may have worked out..but i didnt...i tore it down for no reason and got pissed...anwyay..i fixed it..but when i put it all back on the frame..no spark..im thinkin wtf..all my stuff was connected the switch was on..everything...so i change the coil...still nothing..chage the cdi..to an old used one from a 200m that i had no ikr not..well still nothing...then i thought.hey stator..checked it..its good..whcih left me blank for a couple days...i went through all the wiring..taking off all that factory tape and seals they put on...nohting wrong no burnt wires or anything..so i electrical taped it all back up...and still nothing..im left blank..i just put all new timing chain, tensioner, and guide in there.. so thats good stuff...im still thinkin wtf is wrong..the only thing i can get the test light to show up on is the light when i try to kick it over..thats it..o and btw...its hard to kick over..really hard...i dunno y....anyway..its all in time and everyhting is redy to go but no spark..i think it may be the cdi..i dunno...cause runnin like crap for 5 minutes can burn it out cant it?

test the coil, meter on Rx1 primary 0.2 / 0.8 (power in to groung)
secondairy 8/15k (plug end to ground)

I want to work on understanding your post. This real difficult to follow. I get raced raptor, no spark, tore engine apart. Then I get lost. I am even having trouble suggesting how you should post this.

Check your grounding like dads, mentioned. Get out a multimeter.

:headbang: Right Jen check the grounds.
200's and smaller, the frame is the ground. So check all the grounds.

ok....it all happened during and after i raced that raptor....first..when i was racing him...actually when i was slowing down cause the stop sign up ahead...it all of the sudden acted like it was gonna die...so i turned the choke on..saved it i thought...tried to keep going and all it would do is put put put..so i turned the choke off..no difference...when i got to the stop sign...i let off the gas to see if it would idle..we it did just fine..like nothing was wrong...when i hit the gas it revs to about 1700 id say and starts puttin... so i took it home as quick as possible to try and save pushing 2 1/2 miles...got home....check everything...couldnt find anything wrong...took it all off the frame and tore it down to the case...rebuilt it...put it all back on the frame...suddenly when i went to start it i checked for spark and everything to make sure...well...nothing...so i was stuck again....tested my stator...fine...didnt know how to test my cdi box or coil so i didnt...i changed them both tho and still nothign...tore all the wiring protection stuff the factory puts over them and check every wire down to every connections...nothing was misplaced....so i taped it all back...all i know is i get power to the headlight when i kick it over but not the spark plug

is that a little better to read? not trying to sound like a smartass... i checked every wire and ground and plug everywhere on it..nothing was wrong...anyway....i cant find anything wrong..the shop has it now to try and figure out what it is...i really dont know...i told them its not getting any spark so i need them to test all my wiring and cdi and coil and all that ...and make sure its in time..just to be safe....i really cant figure it out so im hoping they can...anyway does that clear it up a bit?

I would be very curious to know what they say. The reading is all the periods. I dont think your a smartass at all. Just was having trouble deciphering the question. Very good luck.

Check with ohm meter

Alternator test
black/red wire to CDI engine cover is normal if there is continuity and 100-400 ohms of resistance
************************************************
pulse generator (behind CDI engine cover) test
blue/yellow and green wires 50-150 ohms

also make sure the spark advancer behind the CDI engine cover moves freely.
************************************************
CDI test with ohms tester

You will have to note the cover of the wires on the connectors and test the CDI spade terminals as if they were color coded the same as the wires. Don't know how else to explain this.

First color listed is for the positive wire of the tester.
BLK TO GRN=.5-100
BLK TO BLK/RED=.2-20
BLK TO GRN=.5-100
BLK TO BLUE/YEL=5-200
BLK TO BLK/YELLOW=CONT

GRN TO BLK=CONT
GRN TO BLK/RED=CONT
GRN TO BLUE/YELLOW= .5-100
GRN TO BLK/YELLOW=CONT

BLK/RED TO BLK=CONT
BLK/RED TO GRN=.2-20
BLK/RED TO GRN=.2-20
BLK/RED TO BLUE/YELLOW=2-100
BLK/RED TO BLK/YELLOW=CONT

GRN TO BLK=CONT
GRN TO BLK/RED=CONT
GRN TO BLUE/YELLOW= .5-100
GRN TO BLK/YELLOW=CONT

And finally positive lead to blue/yellow and negative to every other terminal should have continuity.

And positive lead to blk/yellow and negative to every other terminal should have continuity.

Yes thats a whole lot of testing for a little CDI!

Good luck
Jeff

not being a smart ass either but a tip, instead of dots try enter, easier to read

hey its been awhile since i been on here...sry bout that...after all the crap i tried..and i should have known..it was the stator..it still is..the shop tried fixin it and the answere they came up with was the stator..they tried alot of stuff too...but its the stator...my guess is that when i was racin the stator when out causing it to shear the flywheel key and jump timing..makin it barely able to run but enough to home..the 185 did that to on me all the time..so thanks for your guy's and girl's help

Hopefully, it'll run good from here out,.
