anybody have any sure fire methods of breaking the axle nut loose?.....began doing the bearing carrier swap on the `85 and the `86........got the `86 apart no prob,but the axle nut on the `85 refuses to budge....even with pipe wrenches and a long cheater pipe1111....was standing on the cheater trying to break it loose and ended up BENDING THE PIPE WRENCH!!!!!!!

Heat the nut up a little with a torch, then try breaking it loose. Ive seen this method used many times on log trucks.

You have to have your tounge sticking out on the left Side of your mouth in order for the Torch method to work:D
Torch should do the Trick...Have you tried soaking you nuts??:lala: :chuckle:

Don't forget they are left hand thread!!
I find using the big wrenches, and suspending the trike on a stand so I can bang the wrench on the concrete works every time. I put the wrench on the nut, and then grab the wheel to bang the wrench. I think the shock breaks the nut loose.
