sounds like the carb may have gotten gummed up.

I agree

A good carb cleaning never hurts, a new carb kit is probably a good thing as well..... buy a good kit, some leave a little to be desired.

You can get a kit anywhere...local cycle shop, dennis kirk, rocky mountain atv, etc. Just make sure it comes with new jets. Some of the cheaper ones don't. Go buy a big bucket of carb dip from your local auto parts store to let it soak in for a few days after you take it apart. Get a guitar string or some other real small diameter wire to run through all the passages.

I bought MOOSE brand carb kits for my wheelers and the kit for the Kawasaki was excellent and the one for my Honda came with a "round" bowl o-ring. I contacted customer service and they told me to form the o-ring around the bowl, what a moron!

Bought my o-ring kits right from Honda after that, a little more expensive but at least everything is right.

As for the jets, unless there is something wrong with yours you don't need them. IMO Aftermarket jets are not as precise as the stock or replacement Keihin Jets that came in your carb.

If you go with just the o-rings order a fuel seat which is attached the the float.

When soaking the carb in carb cleaner do not submerge any plastic or rubber parts! Sometimes they disappear!

The cheap kits will work just fine for most people, I just didn't care for "non-formed o-ring" and crappy customer service reps who have probably never seen a atv carburetor.

Jeff just use a bit of silicone on it to hold it in place...works good for me:lala:

I tried silicone and aviator sealant both , let them get tacky and a round oring will not stay in the shape of the bowl.

I hate the aftermarket carb kits. Nothing works. The needles are shorter, some of the other stuff is smaller as well. the only thing I have ever been able to use is the main jets. The round o rings suck! I tried silicone as well!

Hey Jenn

That reminds me you talking about jets, the kawasaki kit I bought had only the needle jet and not the needle since the needles on the Kawasaki Mojaves have the fixed washer on top and the don't include the for som reason. Anyways I put the new needle jet in and the darn thing would hardly run off idle, so I took the carb back off and went through it again thinkin' I goofed something somewhere since I could rebuild a carb in my sleep I figured I just over looked something. Nope everything was right, put it back on, same thing, took it back off and put the old needle jet in and no problems since.

Its sad that the needle jet wasn't even close enough to work with the stock needle, what a joke......but at least the bowl gasket was pre-formed to match the bowl:shrug:

So I agree, spend $30 for a factory kit and jets rather than the $15-$20 on crappy aftermarket kits that suck.
