View Full Version : Engine Full Of Water
Just got a free Yamaha 200. Unscrewed the dipstick and water came out. Took out the plug and oily water came out of the cylinder too. I drained the crankcase and turned the engine over with the plug out and got all the water out. Now is there something I can fill the engine up with to clean/flush it out before refilling it with oil? It turns over fine, has good compression, and seems to go through the gears fine. It was missing the carb and the airbox lid was off so that's how it got the water in it.
Thanks,
Jim
If the trike has set for months like that there is rust all through the engine. If you run it it will not last long.

Tranny fluid will absorb water. I have dried out motors by putting 1/2 tranny fluid and 1/2 oil in, starting the motor and letting it get warm, and then drain the mix and the water goes with it.
I am with Dads, if it has been sitting with water inside, it is trash.
Well it was free and only a half mile from my house. Plus I already have another one and need some parts. I'll probably just use the engine for parts for my other one. One thing I was missing is the pull starter and side cover. This one had one but it's missing whatever goes inside it. Anyone have a spare complete one for a 200 Yamaha or all the internal parts?
Thanks,
Jim
That is the best idea. Take it apart and clean every thing good to see if they are still usable. O the gears a little surface rust will not make them bad. But can have no rust on the mateing surface.
( were it rides in the bushing on the shaft.
Shafts must be free of rust pits. (will stop gears from slideing smooth)
Good luck AL
PS. if you have any questionable part and need help PM me.
