350x lightened flywheel

Anyone have this done or seen it done on a bike? I wana do it but i'm not shure what the result is going to be.

A lot of 400ex guys do it. It allows the motor to rev quicker but the down side is the motor can stall easier. Not a recomended trick if your more of a low end grunt type of guy.

maybe cause its a unecessary modification with no benifiet,,,, it won't let you rev any higher, just a little faster ..... i can't see any reason to lighten the flywheel at all,,,,

ive thought about getting a heavier fly wheel for my cr 500 beacuse it was so hard to start but now i found the sweet spot haha

Lean the Bike WAY Over till the Gas comes out of the over-flow
1st to 2nd Kick ...Every Time !!

That's the best way to do it. Still have to give one helluva kick...no sittin on the seat banshee kick is gonna start a 500. (By the way...I love how easy the banshee starts. Butt never has to leave the seat to fire it up :headbang: )

I've never seen or heard of anyone lightening a 350X flywheel. keep us posted when you do it.

does a shee have a compression release? if not i wonder why its so easy to start, your kicking +1 cyclinder

a 5 year old could start a banshee the kicker is like 5 inches long,,,, there is no comp release either,,, thats why they don't have much lowend either ,,,,

Cuz your only kicking over 175cc's at a time, and once the first cylinder fires it pushes the next piston by itself so you dont have to kick that one over......so its like kicking a 125 over, very easy....

i dont even need to lean the bike over you just gotta get to the compression stokee then go dwon one bump and it starts firts kick!

i put one on my buddies 350x and it feels snappier, it revs up quicker and back down quicker. he paid $45 to have it done.

whered you have that done at, considering iit wouldnt be too far away to get mine done at if i shipped it....ill have to see if the local quad shop can do it, i know someone that does it for cars but hes really busy and wouldnt wanna bother him

i had it done at cycle works (http://cycleworksracing.net). its in penssylvania, i'm in NY it took like 1-2 days to ship it. they don't take off a lot of metal, about 3 oz., but it makes a difference. you don't want to take off too much, then it stalls more. plus an engine with a heavier flywheel will actually rev higher, although slower at first, than a lighter one, especially on a single.

yea, i've had some work done there, like cylinder bores, and flywheels. does nice work. actually, if you're looking to modify your tecate, thats a good place. the guy that runs it races a tecate 4 in TT, and has experience with the tecate's, 3 and 4. i'd call him at (717)637-1907 and tell him what you're looking to do. he has a mojave he runs in TT with the 450's, and wins with. it puts out like 51hp at the wheels.

Well guys, i got the flywheel today. Friday i'm going to get it weighed, so i can compare it to a stock one. This way i know exactly how much was taken off. Then i will install and have a review about it.

Well, heres a pic of it.

I put it on tonight, I couldnt wait. took it for a spin once i was done and all i can say is :wtf: i take off out of my shop and kill it turn and go around my shop and it dies. BUT once i got on the open road it was awesome. It just dont have that idle luging power anymore. Seems like everything after an idle has improved ALOT. I will ride it more this weekend and get some more feedback on what i think about it. Right now i would give this about a 8 out of 10.

Well after riding it several times i think its AWESOME. I love it, probably the single best mod ive done after the high compression piston.

Now when i go from an idle to WOT there is NO hessitation, its intant. Cant hook up is the main problem. Starting is no problem but when i shift into 4th and 5th i'm still spinning like crazy. I would say it is by far the most throttle responsive bike ive ever riden.

Rode again with it and its awesome.

I run a white bros eseries pipe and with it not sparkarrested its INSANE on the top end and the bike revs out instantly. With it sparkarrested its a MUCH smoother power pull and faster reving. Exclent mod for dunes, track, or trails. As soon as my friend gets his x running again hes going to do this asap.

The flywheel was allredy off as i got everything in box's.....you should see the rest of the Z its just as bad...swear there was 10 bottles of loctite on everything and a hammer used to beat out the end of the crank(which i was able to clean up thank god), also i will be usin 91 pump!

Did the lightened flywheel help with the power, or just increase the throttle response? I'm looking for some inexpensive ways to get more hp out of my X. I've got the 10.25-1 wiseco, plan on installing a Web cam and having the head ported. Mine already has great throttle response, so I just wanted to see if there seemed to be a gain in hp.

There is no gain in hp. But your horsepower will peak much faster. For what youve done i would say this is almost a must have mod. You will love it.

Normally i just check it after i assemble the motor with soder and a mic....was just wondring if he had shaved it thats all :)

Thats right, I forgot. Clay You use on 4-strokes for the valve clearance, solder for the squish.....:doh:

The Fixture i use is just like the Crankshaft of each motor.. once its installed to the fixture its like it was on the Bike ..the CNC Program "while turning" takes off (8) passes for the Perfect turned "Balanced" Part ... Like 350x said ... it's Better and more true than stock..........

I know there Kewl...I dont have the Eaton but have the Kazuma (Alsmost the Same) The only thing I dont like is what I found out at Pismo...If you get a Small Piece of Sand in the Slide....You have to tear apart the WHOLE MACHINE to get to the Carb..:doh: And if the Airbox set up is like ours...You want to TURN THE TUBE up to the Highest point:bash: got about 1/4 cup of sand in there!!!!

Nick needs the Eaton though....The Belly Flops that he does wouldnt hurt as much:salute:

Idle is just like before. No change. I dont feel like i realy lost any bottom end, But it revs instantly. It kinda feels like it has a powerband now. I highly recomend it. And i havent had a stalling problem yet.
