honda 125m won't shift into any gears

Picked up this trike and got the motor running but am stuck on whats wrong with the gears.
The bike always seems to be in neutral or in between gears and the shift indicator on the side of the motor will only turn one click and then dosent turn anymore.
Any ideas on what the problem is?

You have the sub trans in high or low? (little white handel, should be moved to the left or right)...

yah it does the same thing in both high and low.
