will a 85 atc 250 r tranny work in a 86 quad? i think that they are the same but i need to be sure.

YES!!!85 -86 engines are the same they will bolt in either a atc or a quad..............

no the quads where first introduced in '86, the atc and the trx had SOME differences, the cylinder/jug and possibly part of the tranny(all the differences are internal)

they will bolt in either a trx or a atc tooooo without mods
