I've got the 250 running pretty decent.....although Im having trouble getting it to idle. It idles real low. Ive tried adjusting the throttle stop with no change. Which way adjusts fast or slow....in or out?

Also when riding, if I give it 3/4 -full throttle, it seems to bog a little. Is this related to the pilot jet adjustment?

Thanks for any help.

Did you clean the carb or get a rebuild kit? To speed up the idle turn in.

I cleaned it and put a rebuild kit in.

I tweaked the pilot jet a little and got the "bog" out.........now I just cant get the idle up.

that should be able to be adjusted by the throtle stop screw. Turn in to speed up the idle and out to turn down.

I've got the throttle stop turned all the way in and it still wont idle.
Is it possible the throttle cable might be stretched? It looked fairly new when I had to unhook it to get the carb off.

Is there anything else I need to look for that would cause the idle to be so low.....and not be able to adjust it?

Edit.......Seems like the throttle cable being stretched wouldnt have an effect on the idle....or would it? Wouldnt the throttle stop negate that possibility?

If the throtle works, then it should be ok, but i don't know. Maybe the throttle stop screw is broken, take it all the way off (if you can) and see. Other than that I'm dumbfounded:confused:

Take the black plastic cover off of the side of the carb. You can see the throttle linkage hitting on the end of the idle adjust screw then.

You are turning the big black thumb screw that sticks down out of the carb, right???

Right.......Im turning the screw with the black cap on it.

Take the cover off. The end of the screw is supposed to be hitting on a tang on the thingy that the cable attaches to. The further in the screw is, the quicker it st stops the return movement. I suspect that the screw is bent and the thingy (its such a technical term) is not hitting it at all.

Looking under the cover should solve the mistery.
