Hi, I won an auction for a pwk 39 carb to go on my 250r, and the guy selling it to me says it has a 165 main jet in it now. What I wondered is what everyone else is running jet wise, I know I will have to jet it properly to my bike, but with jets costing four to five dollars apiece I would like at least a range to start out with. I was thinking of the 160 through 170 kit. My bike will have 86 cr upper gaskets, a Bill's mid to top pipe, wiseco piston, and rad valve. so what is the range I should be looking at...thanks!

FYI

I've got an 86 r 3 wheeler with a 34mm PWK, FMF pipe, CR head gasket, .060 over with a pro-x piston, and cr reeds and I'm currently running a 165 main jet.

Another guy I know has an 86r 4wheeler, he's got a 38mm PWK, Paul Turner pipe, CR head gasket, .060 over with a pro-x piston, v-force reeds ( whatever the name is, I can't exactly remember), the 89 r rod with the cylinder spacer, and he is running a 170 main jet.

We ride together and both these were jetted on an 80 degree day.

Hope this helps.

sorry, the 34mm PWK is not the carb I run, it's a 36mm PWK

water, your on the right track in purchasing the 160-170 group its a good idea to have various jets on hand. i would start out with the 165 it should be real close then go from there. myself i run either a 168 or a 170 but my motor is built up more then yours.

thanks for the tips...I will test it first, I don't think it will be lean w/ the 165 since I don't have much porting and prob won't have to have it bored out much...so I will buy the 160 through 170 jets

the stock 34mm....How do I fit the 39 on my intake and airboot since I assume it will be larger. Do most people run a open air filter kn and do away w/ the airbox??
