Hey all. I just purchased a Tri-Z 250 and was wondering what modes I could make so it would be as fast as a stock Raptor?? My buddy has a Raptor and I wanna toast his butt so any help would be great!!

It already is faster than a raptor, buddy! LOL

BUT--If u wanna make it haul ass and take names like it can...Get a Pipe, Air Filiter, Mod your air box, Get a Bigger carb and jet it correctly, advance your timing, and ......

Good luck,
Rob

LMAO. Well I feel sheepish. People ask this question about 5 times a week it seems and Im alyways tellin em the same thing! Too bad they are always 4 strokes (350x usually) LOL.

Sorry! You can go ahead and buy a cam, should u find a place to put it :chuckle:

heeh...actually the other ideas 200xryder told you were right on the money. From what I've read about the TRiz's they were VERY undercarbed. LIke a 32mm or something...So I would get a racing pipe, then either mill the head or get thinner gaskets (if they can be found) like on the atc you use cr gaskets, I don't know if the yz gaskets from those years will work on the triz or not. While the head is off do some mild porting, (cleaning up any burrs or flash on the openings), get a bigger carb like a 36 to 39mm flatslide, and jet it properly, get boyesen power reeds, or a rad valve, that will show the raptors what is up

Check out this cool article from Yamaha
http://www.quadpit.com/mags/1985/3-4w-action/yam-wrench-report-tri-z.htm

After reading it I wish I had a Tri-Z (again...):D

that quadpit article covers it all. I'd start out with a pipe and bigger carb. Then eventually you can work your way up to the YZ250 jug which will really make it scream. :demon:
