Just received the 200x front end today and am quite happy. Guy said it was off a 1985...how can I tell? The shocks are air adjustable and silver, not black. I see 85's usually have black forks on E-Bay. I hear the 86+ have a steering stop on the triple tree unlike the 85's...where would it be?

It is not the stearing stop that is on the tripples of a 86/87, it is the stop cover. On a 83/85 the cover is part of the frame.
The 85 200x also had silver shocks. The easiest way to tell them apart is to look at the wheel. The 85 200x has the lug holes all the way out by the rim, the 86/87 use the same wheel as the 350X with the holes closer together.
Here is the ATC brochures site, look at the pics and see if you can tell what you got.
