View Full Version : 250es problems
alright here is the situasion. i took the side case off my big red to find some bolts and camshaft parts that broke off the cam . i got it apart all right but now i cant get it back together or when it does go together it shifts really really hard.i already broke a gasket and i put a dent in the tank with my fist cause i was so mad. i finally stopped and quite for the night when i put the dent in the tank.i have had that friggin side case off and back on at least 15 times and it wont shift like it used too, but if the side cover is off it shifts fine. so i know it is something in the side cover i am doing wrong, but i dont know what exactlyso if ya could help me or give me some advice i would realy appreciate it thanks

I had the same problem with my 200x tranny when i put it back together. I had dried all the parts off to inspect them for damage. And when i put it back together every thing was dry. And when i put the cover on. Every thing was real stiff. So i poured oil all over every thing. And filled the shaft end holes in the case with oil. And then slide it all back together. And it was a lot better. Good luck i hope that is all it is. Do you see any bent shaft that might be binding when you put the cover on?

That sounds like a good suggestion...makes sense. My only other suggestion would be: Don't :bash: your machine!!! It's already broke...buy a punching bag!!!!
hey do yall think that instead of a OEM gasket, if i put rtv gasket former on the side cover do ya think that would hold?i am so tired right now on waiting for parts i dont know if i will ever get it back together. i got it all together once and filled it with oil then i tried to shift it and it still shifted hard so i know it is not lack of oil that is making it hard to shift.can ya think of anything else i realy dont want to take it to the shopeven though they would probably have it together in under an hour.
