i just came into a klt 200 for parts for my other one, i decided it was complete, so i tried to get it running, after replacing the starter and doing a little custom wiring, it tries to fire but spits fire out the carb, it actually blew the carb off once, 110 pounds of compression tells me it dont have a burnt valve, it seems to be in time just firing a little too early, any ideas?? ps, the timing cover is cast inside kz250r i dont know if this makes a difference in where the pickup is located, it apears identical to my running trike, but my other one is missing the kz250r casting
To blow the carb off it has to be fireing before the intake valve closes.

got it running, apparantly someone had done some work to the timing, dont know what, but on the cam gear there are two marks one for kz200, kz250r, and the other one for kz250 and 350, dont know if this is the right timing gear, but it has two ways it can bolt on and when i bolted it on and timed it for a kz250 it started and runs like a scalded dog , really surprised with the amount of power, any ideas what i might be working with, it is a 200 moter, on the jug it says 198cc, interchangable cams????

no, they just used the same timing gear on a bunch of trikes / bikes- KLT 200 250 kl200, kz 250 for a few years bayou 300 watch for lob burn on the 200 though, it is a bit of a weakness.
