If the original was a fiber type gasket yuo may be able to make one out of gasket material from your local auto supply store. I have used cereal boxes in a pinch before but I would put the original gasket in when you get it. I would not recommend RTV in a position where there was a paper type gasket before.
I believe there is an Astro van still running around with a cereal box gasket in the thermostat housing... hehehe

I wouldnt recommend it. The shafts and the case are machined to fit just right together. And if you try atv and you tighten it down. The case is going to try to come closer together then it is suposed to. Either binding stuff up inside. Or maybe even cracking the case. So like ed said either get some gasket maker and try to make your own(good luck) Or wait the week and do it right. The choise is yours.
P:S: i am going to slid this over to the tech section.

I would get the correct gasket. Also wanted to make a suggestion to ya, RTV is complete trash compared to Hondabond. If you are ever going to apply liquid sealant to anything spend the money and get Hondabond HT. But never use it in place of a fiber or paper gasket. Cereal boxes are just fine for a quick fix. i've done it as well in a pinch.
Good luck

i knew i shouldn't of bought that astro van!

CUMMINS DIESEL MAKES A REEL GOOD SEALANT, YOU WOULD HAVE TO GET IT AT A CERTIFIED CUMMINS DEALER ITS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE. I WOULD RECOMEND USEING THE RIGHT GASKET ON YOUR BIKE , ONCE YOU PUT IT IN THE JOB IS DONE & YOU WONT HAVE TO GO BACK IN IT.:lala:
