they make kits for it, but that one is obviously a home made wonder. the kit cost 2000 and it comes with ski's and rear tracks, theres also one for trikes that puts one large ski in the front, from what i have heard on them, a 250r, tecate, 400ex, banshee, triz, and a raptor will all beat most sleds in snow when they have the kit on.

Turbo, you have been grossly mislead!!! They may beat an Elan or something equally as useless, but any half decent sled would waste a quad or trike with skis, for the painfully obvious reason that you simply can NOT get enough traction with tires on snow, even with a stud kit. Most people up here are running mountain sleds, so they have 2 or 2.5" lugs and 144" tracks and longer. Typical engine size here is 800 and up. Some of those things will do 0 to 100 mph faster than the average person has the balls to concieve. I have not seen an A.T.V. do 100 mph yet, let alone on snow, and that quick!! So, be aware of :bs: down there!!:p
Cheers!!;)

ic you have misread my post, true, that quad wont beat a good sled, but read a little deeper, i said tracks, they bolt directly on to a quad, with tracks running you get more traction, and in the state of SD, sure there are sleds that will do 100mph faster than a person really wants too, but that speed does not get used on the trail. cuz here on a normal winter we reciece 4-5 feet of snow, and thats in eastern sd, in western sd in the blackhills, when we get 5 inches, there getting 2 feet. so, when you take into effect of their 600+pounds, plus packed snow, a 400 pound fourwheeler does stand a very nice chance in the powder.

Sorry Turbo, you got me on the tracks thing. I have seen those kits but I still say a new 440 or biger would make the quad OR trike look stupid in the snow.....:p

Todays typical 600cc and up liquid cooled sled does 0-60 between 3 and 4 seconds and the quarter mile in 11 or 12.
Good luck beating one anywhere.
