either choice is fine but the offset one would probably work better on motors still in the frame

Just put your engine on tdc and just wiggle the rockers. If they have a little clearance there fine................;)

I agree that the bent ones would be easier to use

I use one of these for trike valves. it is just the right size. I got it at the local honda shop

Mr ATC,

When adjusting valves, have you ever had a problem adjusting the clearance properly? What I mean by this is, it apparent that one can't simply loosen the locknut, turn the adjuster and hold a feeler gage while not applying any downward pressure on the rocker arm. Sounds simple but even less than one inch pound will give a false feel on the feeler gage. Even slight pressure from my hand makes the feeler gage slide (or not slide) like the adjustment is too tight. This can be a problem either in the frame or out but definatly harder in the frame. Is there a technique or tool you use to get a real reading from the feeler gage? I had an XL250 with the same type rocker assy as my 3wheeler and have had the same difficulty adjusting the valves correctly. It would be beneficial to be able to pull up on the rocker arm while turning the adjuster and holding a feeler gage. Not enough hands. Teach me oh master.
