how do you ajust the timing on a big red not the timing chain but the timing?is it hard

what part of the timing? put the marks on the flywheel to match the T to the notch on the case, thats lobes down ont he cam, the electrode part should be pointing straight up on the outside of the cam, atleast with a 86 125m

Sorry Kyle the only big red i have worked on was a 83 200e. What year is yours?. And where are you stuck at i can try to help.
what one is it ? the 200 or the 250
its a 250es big red 1985 i was told it was running fairly hot by a mechanic friend of mine but then he went on vacation for a month so now i cant get ahold of him . i need to know how to set the timing. not the timing chain but the timing.thanks

hmmm I thought it was F you lined up for the timing, and the T was for setting valves...on my 200x that is

it looks like mine too but i need to know how to retard the timing not set it sorry bout that

if your refering to the electrical timing (time the plug fires) You can't , you can't alter it's lowcation.
valve timing you can change. but make shore the valves clear piston before starting.
the one thing that makes them run to hot is running the carb too leen. check the color of your plug.
not worried about timing anymore cause the exhaust valve broke off in the cylinder and ruined both valves and the head (put some pretty big gouges in it)and the piston so timing is sortof the last thing on my list right now.

sorry to hear that . if it didn't crack the valve seats , head or piston all you will need is valves and gaskets
no i need a new head cause it put some pretty deep gouges in it and it gouged the valve seet and piston so it is gonna sit till i save up to fix it about 2 months glad i got a back up bike
