View Full Version : Anyone done this air intake mod?

i was wondering if anyone had removed the like, sound plate thing underneath the gas tank, where the air enters the frame. i was thinking removing this, might give slightly better throttle response on the lower end, as well as make the "intake tube" aka the frame, howl off the fuel tank a little more. giving that intake whop when you hit the gas under load.

are you talking about the snorkle? Well i mean if u want to go into deep water and get water in ur carb alright lol i would keep it just to be safe.

Are you talking about those metal tubes near the steering stem? I don't know if you'd get more air flow. I think those things keep a lot of crap from making it's way into the tube.

like what? its right underneath the gas tank, im talking about that little plate right behind the triple, i assume there is holes in teh frame right there, where the air comes in , if you take that plate off, i would guess it would rumble off the fuel tank a little more. like an intake tube on a car, to me it seems like it is an intake muffler kind of, and that you could get slightly better throttle response, probably not noticeable, im gonna monkey with it

whats it matter if something gets in the tube anyway? i wouldnt be going that deep in water, and i have a new uni air filter to block any objects

What kind of bike are you talking about?

Your not going to get any diffrent "rumbling" out of it. In all honesty i dont think those little plates do anything. By removing it, it wouldnt get any more performance and its not going to change the sound it if.

And I agree with NOS_350X...it's not going to make a difference.

just remembered its not gonna matter anyway, someone swiss cheese modded my air box, meaning they drilled 5 holes in the top.... so no snorkel but, usually that gives it a little better throttle response, so ill leave it for now
