I just got an 82 250r with a good engine & no rear axle, and an 84 250r that starts and runs good but the crank bearings are loose. I thought I saw a post about the engines being the same, but can't find it now. Can I put the 82 engine in the 84 so we can ride it while I rebuild the 84 engine. Maybe I can find an axle for the 82 also. Thanks Meredith

you cannot do the 82 motor in 84 frame because of the shifter shaft being to long. The other way is doeable. IMO get them both fixed and have two good trikes.

Fire is right but you could always swap over the shifter shaft too. Pop the clutch cover and clutch off and pull each shaft and swap them, you will have to have one of them apart anyways. I guess it comes down to how bad do you want to ride and how long will it be before you rebuild the engine (I know I will be finishing my yami engine in 2 weeks, it only took a year  ).

Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably switch the shaft, I have night classes and will not start the rebuild until Christmas break. It might be summer befor I get it put back together.:lala: By then I hope to have an axle and brakes for the 82. So we will have both to ride. My 14yr old son and me want to ride now. :D

I pulled both engines last night it only took about 20min to switch the shafts. I should have the 84 back together this weekend. I've got my eye on an axle on ebay. Thanks for the help:D
