I have a 1984 honda 200x and i want to modify the top end my plans are to use web cams for the
.362 lift/ cam=$112.00
oversized intake valve=$34.00
stock exaust valve=34.00
performance valve spring kit(with aluminum retainers)=$63.00
My problem is I have to rebore because the engine smokes, so im boring it .25 over and i want to use a 11:1 high compression piston but i dont know where to get one at. Does anybody know of a company that sells what im looking for? Powroll sells a kit but it is way to expensive. Also what do yall think of the modifications im planning? Im hoping to be done with everything in 2 months. Also what all modifications need to be done to use a oversized intake valve? Has anybody ever used a "dial a jet" on there 200x? If so how well do they work? Thanks for any help. Rick

You can get a Weisco 10.25:1 piston. They also make a 12:1 but that would require race gas. I get a lot of my parts from www.denniskirk.com but you should be able to find a wiesco from a lot of other places.
What other mods are you doing? I am assuming you already have a bigger carb and performance exhaust? It sounds like it you are going for a top end screamer.

I have the same cam in my 85 200x. Good all around cam. I also have a 26mm XR200 carb and intake on mine. It really made it better. I have stock pilot 35 or 38? and finally settled on a 120 main. It revs all the way out in 5th now. Never did that before. The carb came stock with a 110 main.
I also have the 10.25:1 wiseco. Seems alright. I am weary of the 12:1 in these engines. Because of the kickstart gears. I have a combo exhaust. Head pipe is DG. Has a Cobra 300 (something?) muffler/silencer. Had to modify to fit.
I can get part numbers for carb and intake if interested.they are STILL availible from Honda.

I am not going to say you NEED a bigger carb. It helped mine. I know several people that never has changed carbs and did great.
At least you have a good exhaust. That will help too.
I don't know anything about the decompressor. I have read on here and been told, you could use the valve cover off a 185s,200s?,200m on the X and it works fine. I don't know that first hand though. I don't see why it wouldn't . They all bolt up the same, look the same, have the same head.

You have to use the specific head cover that has the MANUAL decompression lever. For some reason my mind is completely blank as to which one I used...
Search under my name its listed.

Is a 200m the same? Or 200s? How do you know by looking at them?

As a past user of Powroll products I'll vouch not only for the company and it's products but also to the mind boggling lifespan of your Powroll'ed performance engine. Yes, their prices are a bit more than some others but, I have experienced first hand the indestructibility of quite a few of their engines. That company will not: A. Steer you wrong, B. Sell you something you don't need, C. Help you construct a time bomb and D. Will be there to help you with patience and skill you'll find no-where else. Buy the Powroll Piston, Spend your hard earned $$ on THE QUALITY HONDA MOD PARTS! My brother and I raced Powroll modified XR75's back in 1973 - 1977 that smoked Noguchi YZ80C's. They were raced hard at least twice a month for 4 YEARS without a problem except a sheared rear sprocket once. (That was mechanic error and wasn,t a Powroll part anyway). When I modify my ATC200X in the next 12 -18 months it will be Powroll or nothin'. You won't be sorry if you go with their stuff, Just Rippin'!!!!

As long as this old thread is back from the grave, in search of his 11:1 could he have taken that 10.25:1 and shaved a smidge off the head? Seems like it would allow him to creep up on that 11:1 with minimal extra investment. Is there a drawback to shaving the heads on these motors for an extra little bit of squeeze?
