That seams to happen if you have no battey in a SX. If you batt. is good check the wire connectors and grounds. and fuse.

The charging system has a "break even" speed. That is...after 2500-3000 rpm, it only puts out 12.5-13.0 volts. Idle to 2,000 rpm, It puts out 14.0-14.5 volts. With the lights on high at 2,000 it should be 14.0-14.5 volts. If it isn't , Then check your voltage reg. and stator.
Did your switch have just 2 wires?
The problem you are describing could have several different fixes. If the battery is weak, it will do the same, if a ground is loose the same, If it had more than 2 wires on switch, all circuts not working. I know most 4 wheelers now has 4 wires on them.
I would also check battery. Sounds like it is weak.
