View Full Version : Spring Mississippi River Ride

Let's go ahead and plan one guys so NOBODY can cry about getting off work to make it! *coughScottcough*

Deer season is over Jan 31 so anytime after that is good, but you don't want it to be too far into spring where the river will be rising. I figure mid-February to mid-March. Anyone have a preference or any "no way" dates?

ScottZJ

What type of trikes will be involved? Im thinking a big red ride. Willie will have his done(I hope) Ricks should be ready then, me and anyone else. We could pack them up with coolers and food and head off for the entire day. I mean the sand is fun with the sport trikes but the big red would be more fun in the long run.

250sx
12-01-2005, 05:58 PM
Bring whatever you want! I'll have a little bit of everything plus a spare big red so it doesn't matter to me. :D

We can camp out on the river since the mosquitos won't be bad. Sit up all night, drink beer, build a bonfire, and watch the towboats go by. :headbang:

ScottZJ

Last time you did that...........you made Danny Jr. BAAAHAHAHA .....watching tow boats..baaahahahaha.

hell it's december and the high is going to be in the 60s. Thanksgiving week it was in the upper 70s. If that holds up then it will be plenty warm by late feb/early march.

2 1/2 hours must make a big difference in temperature...LOL It has been cold here, in the upper 20's and lower 30's with the high around 55 if that. LOL If it is not too cold I will go. I agree that it has been nice for thanksgiving but no prediction of any 60 degree weather here.

Sounds like we are going to be a big red Utility trike run in early Feb. Most likely we will start riding near Dans old mans place in Pearl MS.

I'm in. I don't want to hear any ninnys crying about the cold though. Have we decided on a weekend? I say the earlier the better... the river must be REALLY low right now....Dan?

Edit: it would be best NOT to bring wifes/girlfriends if filthywillie is gonna be there.

Dang Yater, your not that far from me at all, you need to make it up here sometime for a ride on the sandbars. As far as us making it up there for a utility run, we prolly wont be able to make it unless we logged in all the hours on a 110 and a ATC200. I dont consider riding either of those for a long period of time to be just a great time.

ladano
12-16-2005, 01:42 PM
Count me in, I have the '84 and '83 big reds done. A little more time and I'll have the '85 putting around. I just bought a new mig today, so I'm going to build a trailer real soon. If anyone needs a utilility to ride I'll bring an extra one.

ScottZJ
12-16-2005, 02:11 PM
Like wise, I think I will have 4-5 utility trikes with me so, there will be plenty to ride.

I bet you can.

250sx
12-16-2005, 06:14 PM
hey lomax you can always bring your 350x. I'm going to have mine there. It's just too much fun not to be able to blast a little too. :)

Yater, river will be down to 6ft by next monday. Should still be low into march. It's a tradeoff on the date. The earlier we ride the more likely the river will be lower but the colder it is likely to be.

yater
12-16-2005, 06:27 PM
If we're camping, I'll take cold over hot any day. Are we camping?

Howard
12-16-2005, 06:44 PM
scott was saying he may bring his big trailer, if so it has propane heater installed. just an idea. maybe park it were him and i camped that one time dan?

250sx
12-16-2005, 10:28 PM
We should definitely camp. Preferably out on the river. I would much rather it be a little cooler than too hot. We can build a bonfire out on the sandbar. If you guys want to bring your women that's fine, but I know some people don't like others to curse & stuff in front of them.

No...all bets are off if you're bringing the women. I can't promise willie won't pull out his pecker and dive in the fire. I wouldn't risk it. Cursing is the LAST thing you should be worried about with this group

I amnot going to make any promises and/or commit at this time but it does sound like fun and who knows what machine I might have when that time rolls around. We will just have to see how the business is going. Riding on a sandbar on a utility machine seems kinda strange though............

250sx
12-20-2005, 06:51 PM
Well there are LOTS of woods to ride too so we aren't JUST going to be on the sandbar. Plus we could have a LONG utility ride up to a cabin on a lake about 40miles away, spend the night, and ride back. Whatever you bring there will something to do.

LonesomeTriZ
12-20-2005, 07:47 PM
Hey Will, you better show up. if we can make it you can pick up your Zinger plastic.

Dan, that 40 mile ride sounds great. That is the gind of riding I have been wanting to do.

I actually started on the Zinger restore last night lol. I was bored and figured what the hell, it was the easiest out of all the projects so I figured I would start knocking it out. I will do what I can but again, no promises yet. It will just have to get a little closer. How do those fenders look by the way??

250sx
12-20-2005, 10:08 PM
they have some nice little cabins we can pull the trikes up on the deck behind the cabin over the water...they don't care. I'm more interested in camping on the river but we can make those decisions when the time comes and we see who brought what.

yater
12-20-2005, 10:24 PM
Dan's idea of camping = wait till everyone settles down and make a run for the house...leaving us to fight the bugs and the sand

I'm just kidding...I love the idea of sleeping by the river

LonesomeTriZ
12-21-2005, 01:51 PM
Out doors or in, I am up for eithe rone.

The Fendsrs are lookign good. she has not got around to finishing them up just yet. But they sure do look a lot better than what they did. :chuckle:

Lomax
12-21-2005, 01:55 PM
I guess the date is set for March 4th-6th? If so then I will attempt (no garentee's) to work around that somewhat.
Glad to hear it on the fenders. I didnt realize a Zinger had sucha well built frame compared to say an ATC70. I am using the Yellow set on the one that I am building. You interested in the Red Set??

LonesomeTriZ
12-21-2005, 02:11 PM
Nah, we are still trying to get the mony together to buy Billy's red one. I have a yellow one I have to sell soem how. The problem if finding a box to ship it in.

I see no reason why we can not make the March time frame.
