I have a 84 200s that could use a fresh top end.I was wondering if the head and cyl from a 200x is interchangable? Does it have different porting/valve dia. /chamber size?Would a mild performance cam from an x work in my s head? What about a slightly higher compression piston?I am not expecting huge gains, just see this as an opportunity to do some upgrades.Any help is appreciated-Hacker

The heads themselves are all the same. The differences are in the cams. WhenI rebuilt my 200M, I used a stock 200X cam and piston. Woke it right up! I recommend this upgrade.

The x cylinder has bigger fins for better cooling cause the piston is slightly higher compresion. I would use an x cylinder and get a wiseco piston that has even more compression than a stock x. You could get a 10.25:1 and still use pump gas.
An xr200 cam would be a nice improvement also. That will go right into your head. With these, and a fresh valve job, your 200s will fly!

Just be careful with increased compression. That pull starter will yank your shoulder out of your socket if you bump it up too much.

If you decide to go with the XR cam, be careful to choose the correct year application. The RFVC head years will NOT work!
