Ok can someone please confirm we are on right track on these stupid little quads..(Once friggen again). Keep in mind they are Fully auto, fuel injected, and run with a complete vacuum system.
IF any part of the vacuum is hosed up they run cruddy. But they run. Now we think we have nailed all vacuum issues. So we think it is in the carb at the float. We have torn apart inspected found nothing.
Here is the issue: WE get it running for about 20 min...It dies....We can get it running again keep it running at an idle but once we give it gas to move it dies. There is a major "dead" spot within the 20 min run at low end. At first we thought we were starving the bike of gas.....Then we thought bad gas, change gas due to not burning fast enough. Now we don't know what to think except bad float???? What do you think?

I would think if the float was bad it would only run a couple minutes at a time. It sound more like something on the way to the card is plugged. Like a fuel filter or the petcock for the tank might have something restricking it. Not allowing the gas to flow fast enough to keep up with the need of the motor. And eventually running the float bowl dri. Check your fuel line going into the carb. And make sure it has good gas flow through it. And that the line isnt pinched or kinked some where.

Nope got great flow from a(tank) to b(carb). That 20 min run has us stumped too. but none the less I will repull the tank itself and check it again.

This is a long shot but, have you taken apart the exhaust to make sure something is not pluged up in there. The baffle or spark arrestor might be plugged.

Prob. not the problem but a thought.

Ok I have swapped the carbs....it is there definatly.....I am gonna let the kids run em a bit and see what other failures I can get to pop. Ie 20 min thing.....

It must have the float adjusted to lean then. Stopping the gas flow to early and starving the engine. Have you tried to adjust the tab on the float so that it dosnt close so soon.

That 20 minute thing stupms me. The only other thing i can think of is the coil. Some times if they get a broken wire in them they will exspand when they get hot and pull the wire apart and cause it to kill.

But let us know if it is still acting up after you switched the carbs. I am curious if that is all it was. Very strang problem. Good luck Jenn.

I am waitin on hubby to get home to continue....he catches everything I don't think of. But I definatly was able to trace source. It is in carb....He is thinkin starvation too...but we're stumped. It is too hot outside to run them so it will be a bit....Dang I thought the beasty was sensitive.......

Just a thought Jenn. But maybe it isnt the float. Maybe it is the vent on the gas tank. Is it clogged or restickted. Just wondering if maybe after a few minutes of riding it builds up vacum. And with out the vent it would stop the fuel from flowing. Might be worth a look.

ok well Now I don't think its float either....I emptied it, tip it upside down.... blew..... tip it right side blew... it functions. quite well too now that I am gonna be tasting gas for the next week.yucky....So I was thinkin vacuum too.. But now I am stuck till tomorrow. But hey the good news now it don't run at all:lmao: And I can get to idle at full throttle....Gee I can't wait to see what the heck is fudged up next. Spark plug is lookin like flooding??? Anyone got a spare cliff??:demon:

Fuzzy I do know the fuel is makin it the carb cause I am dumpin everytime I get into it.......Alot of fuel. After it gets to the carb I don't know whats going on.:confused: :cry: :confused:

Ok day 2 gonna get goodies at store and start over,,,,,,,This way I don't just see red. FOr good measure I will try your guys suggestions but I swappped the carbs boys. I ve got One great runnin one and one terrible one. Im gonna put in sparklin new plug, double check couple things and gets some gasket maker. Your vacuum theory could be correct but not in tank but on top of carb. There is a cap there it shows signs (with microscope) of possible leakage. Also rather then starving it are we flooding it??

I think I've got it!!!!!! Vacuum.. Lemme try and explain this the best I can...Ok on the top of the carb is a plastic cap that is supposed to seal. This is where my air is controlled creating the needed vacuum. It wasn't sealing. The space was so thin that you wouldn't catch it right away. But I was suspecting it had major roll. I got gasket maker and sealed it up. This was the only way to test this. Runs great so far, need to let it sit for 24. AS far as spark it showed signs of flooding but the engine acted like it was starving or getting no gas. Some how I am not sure Air prob caused both reactions at different times causing weird symptoms. I think When we first put gas into without the right air we would starve it giving it a loss in power at bottom end then, when we picked up speed the engine was able to burn up the gas but when we killed it it just flooded. I don't know. I am not sure this makes sense. As far as the 20 min thing the only thing I can think of is we over heated it....I don't know how we did it. But the engine was real hot. I can think of nothing better and I aint no mechanic.

The engine being red hot goes with running out of fuel. When a motor runs lean, it still developes a lot of power, but runs really hot. If it was starving out, it would be lean before it died competly. Glad it is fixed. Now for Matts solution.

JENN YOU KEEP SAYIN VACUUM,,, theres no vacuum on those carbs,,,, do they have a vacuum operated fuel pump???? maybe thats the problem,, i didn't look at them to close ,,,they are oil injected too aren't they???,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, just cause you can blow through the inlet dosen't mean there isn't something in the seat holding the needle open or blocking partial fuel flow toooo,,,,ya gotta tear it apart and seeeeeeeee

just another thought to throw out there, maybe it is your float, it could have a pin hole in it, it fills with gas and shuts off the flow.
the vacuum in the gas tank/blocked vent theory sounds good too.

if the floats fill with gas they sink,,, then you have gas running out the overflows!!!

I tore that carb to pieces 7++ times in the last 24 hours....inspected every pin, needle, and everything, from the tiny gaskets to the little holes with flashlight and magnifying glass. not a mark, scratch, or lint in it. I blew....I cleaned.....and I blew some more. I don't know about oil injectection. On the top there is a vacuum on this carb.....or something to do with air. That cap was sucking or losing air?? Why who knows. It was enough to cause alot of crap. And the crack was very very small. I havnt the foggiest idea why they acted this way. To be honest I have never seen anything like this. All I care about is gettin them running long enough to dump em. I sealed the crap outta that cap......so far its good....

Dads they are 4strokers.....so no, no oil injected. "Kasea 65". We picked them because they were slightly larger in size then the 50's so the kids won't out grow em fast. Lol They have out grown em. I don't know anything about 2 stroker's so we went with 4 stroke,,,,,,man do I regret that. By the way, Its still not fixed. I am not working on it any more.....and I told Bri He has till Tomorrow Before I take it in. Maybe If Pack a punch in his wallet....He change his tune. So as we speak he is tinkerin with it. Could you all recommend a good carb replacement???

When i live in AZ ,a while ago they were selling gas with to tipes of additives. saposadly the additives were to help the gas burn better. it was because of the emitions. one had a oxiginator that was ok , and i can't remember the other one but it was crap it ate the jets out of the carbs. cars started to run like crap. i don't know if they still use them bother out west but if so you may have used some crap gas. for some reson it acted like an abrasive on brase parts. and on bikes there are jets you can not change.

Yeah, Dads that is the second thing we checked. We changed gas out just in case. Gas can do funny things if its crap or dirty. Brian has it runnin pretty decent. Engine stays cool, and now there is a very slight bog at bottom end. I am gonna have the carb replaced anyway. Good news we taught the youngest of the 3 kids how to ride, He does extremly well. But he has 6 mths till he is 6. The middle girl has the good runnin one doing power slides. but that is in loose dirt. They do great in the dirt. That makes us nervous puttin her on 3 wheels. MAtt this one is too young for ya sorry (6). The eldest is askin for a faster bike.. I wanna see how she handles the 3. She is also a little young Matt(8). But she wants to race so we are prob lookin at 4 wheels. They sit on my lap once in while lookin at pictures on the sight they love to see all the picts everyone posts.

Your right atc330r, no fuel injection. I apologize for my own stupidity. Yeah I think we've got it licked....just watchin it now. I thought I had it done a couple days ago, but got up in the morning to find gas comin out my air filter onto my battery (electric start) and all over my floor. Yes I know one spark....:eek: . Brian took over after that. so far its behavin.:shrug: 2 days nothin yet.
