#02 The Case of the Axed ATV

My name is Dnim…Reven Dnim and this is my partner Ekorb Niaga, we are detectives for the ATV crimes division of the devils backbone.
April 10 2002
The case was moving slowly due to vacation time…and several other trails that needed doing.
The Examiner was able to make a positive ID on the ruined cylinder found in the shed it was a Fl250, not part of our 3 wheel victim but probably a piece of the afore mention odysseys, upon examining the mopeds it was determined that they had probably disintegrated long before any disassembly had taken place.
This still didn’t answer our question: Were the moped tied in with this case? Were the Odys?
We returned to the scene and felt drawn back to the mopeds. We were disinclined to believe that the frames we had found were connected, due to the way they had been stored, but the mopeds still worried me, could these have been the first victims and when The Tinker tired of them set out after bigger game? As I kicked my foot in the dirt… A clue, a pair of Klein wire Dykes and the rust on them that seemed to be about two years worth, with what the yokel had told us it would fit the time frame, Blue ford ranger, seedy looking, and a top of the line pair of dykes, There is only one person who fits that description a rather nefarious character that goes by the name of Web liner, deals mostly in electronic jobs and slinks about the hill country in a blue ford ranger, we proceeded to his domicile only 20 minutes away, we could put him on the scene, now if we could only make up motive, and plant evidence we would have our man. This wouldn’t prove easy due to the fact that he is known to be very cunning. We arrived at his address and began plying him with iced tea and cigarettes but he had answers to all our questions…easy answers, to smooth, like the ride of a shaft drive big red 250, I immediately began to suspect the yokel Boofniff had tipped him off.
I quickly changed tactics, the next smoke I offered was unfiltered and the next drink a 12 oz bud. Ten minutes later he was singing like a badly tuned bultaco, and the story of the mopeds sloshed forth, a little got on my shoes as a matter of fact, he claimed the moped were already at the house and already dead when he got the place, in fact there was another scooter still out there, he had just gotten tired of looking at them and the dumping ground was closer than the proper interment facilities, Well that was the gist of what he said, most was just as garbled and slurred as the instructions on timing a Ducati, we trooped into the back yard to view the alleged motorcycle.
As he told us we could still see some of the moped parts lying about, it looked like a dead end. (See attachment #002 for crime scene photos)

I agree the stories are very enjoyable. You seem to write very well for a novice. Are you in the business?. And also in your rust in piece photo. Is that a ram air Suzuki GT?.

Thanx for the compliments and no, I'm not in the biz just a little off center. Yes that is a old ram air suzy that was leaning up against the back of WebLiners, next chapter has a pic of a fantastic bultaco Sherpa "T" as soon as I get some time I will get #04 out.
