Right now, this is how my 350x sits:

This is what pissed me off to the point where I was ready to demolish the whole bike, luckily, I stopped myself. The bearing rusted onto the axle... I had one hell of a time getting it off. (note: this is what happens when you ride through mud and water and don't take everything apart once a year to clean and check everything)

Another PITA, the lower bearing innner race on the steering stem... It needs to be chiseled off, and a new one pressed on... I also need a lower bearing, which is $80.

Not many people take the time to take everything apart (everything other than the engine) yearly and inspect their bike. Everything rusts, bearings run dry, etc. and this is what you get.

Did you paint the frame???? If you did, what kind of paint did you use. And where did you get it from.

Yes, I painted the frame. No, I can't tell you what kind of paint it is or where I got it... It's a secret.

Just kidding :lmao: , if I ever do plan on painting any of my frames, they will be powder coated.

Very nice work! Looks like you're taking the time to do things right.

Hang in there Levi. I think you are doing it right taking it all apart and rebuilding. I think a person would be surprised how many thing`s would need replacing if they ever took there`s apart like you are doing.

Thanks.

Yeah, I've been working ever so slowly on it. Checking and rechecking everything. Somedays I just sit and look at the bike for hours, not working on anything.

I changed the rear shock oil. It took hours just to add the oil and make sure there was no air in the system. But when I operate the shock, it feels like there is an air bubble in there, the dampening is not uneven (the manual says if it's uneven there is air in the system) it just doesn't feel right, so apart it comes again. Amsoil Shock Therapy Medium (10w) is getting expensive at $15 a quart!

I hear that. Doing thing`s right the first time is allways cheaper then haveing to do them twice. I hate when you run into that kind of thing.

Levi, I am impressed!! We need to talk.............I want to do that kind of rebuild to my R right now. I flashed it up for the first time this season today. It started and ran on the second kick with last years fuel!! Man, am I hard on that thing...... Anyway, it is ready to ride other than an oil change. It would be easier to start this project if I had another beast. Keep your ears peeled for an R or 350X for me. I look forward to more shots.
Cheers!:headbang:

Caterpillar,

Sure thing... If you ever get out here to Alberta, I'd be glad to help you do a complete rebuild. I've got a lot of space in my shop for something like that. It's also getting insulation and heat this summer, so a person would be able to work on their bike in comfort in the winter.

How much cash are you willing to spend on another bike? One of my bikes might be for sale in the near future.
