Lol one problem solved another arises. I have a 1985 200s motor on a 185 frame. Any way earlier i was worried about my trike smoking (fresh over haul) well my dad looked at it and said it was mostlikely carb smoke. he also noted that the clutch was slipping bad. I noticed this myself. I took the advice of others and got a profesional mechanic to install a clutch about 2 weeks ago. Well i dont know which clutch they replaced (my trike would run and drive but wouldnt push off) well now the clutch catches i can push it off and everything but im wondering if the clutch the put in wasnt any good. heres the problem

well i live in a small area so, so far i havnt got it out of 123 gear. tommrow hopefully i will be able to play in 4th and 5th. Any way in about 3rd gear when i shift in about mid gear the motor revs veryhigh. Even in 2nd i can rev the motor really high before it starts to grab. Say i would be hauling ass and let off the gas and rev it again it will rev really high and seem as if its not catching or its slipping. Any ideas what this problem could be. I dont want it to worsen over time. I was thinkign about messing with the adjuster but im sort of afraid to becouse i dont know which way to turn the little adjuster knob. Any ideas. also if posibly you think the clutch is bad let me know beouse its been less than a week and if i let any more time go by my shop may not honor any sort of warranty (if the even have one) thanks

one more thing im running a high compresion 12:1 piston i had this in the back of my mind but i doudt its the problem but could posibly the motor have too much power for the clutch bah thanks guys i know i ask some of the dumnest quiestions in the wolrd but im a worrier and im afraid that this may worsen over time.

could this be normal i put it in 5th gear and it strugles but it goes. so seems if the clutch would be bad it would slip. damn it perhaps me and my sliping smoking pos 200 should find the bigest cliff to ride off of   . only thing is i would survive and end up in a pos rascal scooter for the rest of my life. :lmao:

I was messing with the adjuster and i noticed that its turned all the way in. Does that mean its adjusted as far as it will go or do i adjust it by turning it out? thanks

What's your "professional mechanic" have to say about it? Hasn't he ever heard of "standing behind your work"?

Sounds like you need a sentrifuge clutch. they proble replaced the shift clutches. the sentrifuge clutches are not locking up. the higher the RPM the titer the clutches should get . but check the ajust ment on the clutch pack. turn screw counter clock wize, till you fell tension , back of 1/8 to 1/4 of turn lock nut.

its messed up everytime i tighten the little adjuster the shift lever gets really loose and when i take it for a spin it dosnt shift worth a crap. But yet when i loosen out on the adjuster the shifer gets really tight and the bike wont move at all even in first gear. I asked the people who worked on it and they said bring it up there and drop it off well we were going to do that when someone who worked there told us not to. If we left it there they would probaly have another bill on it. Damn they have already got 300 dollars out of it seems like they could at least FIX what they were supose to have done in the first place. :bash: :bash: :bash:

Your shift lever should never get loss, it is sping loaded , you push up it returns to center push down it returns to center. if it flops you have a problem with the shift shaft pin the spring rest against. it may be broken off. ajusting the clutch will not afect your shift pedal by making it loss.

to help answere your question i need to ask a few.

look at your receipt she what parts they replaced. you should see the following parts:
clutch disc's
clutch plate's
clutch spring's
gasket

if they did not replace all these parts they did not due a complete job. also what kind of oil did they use ?

it appears that they replaced the one way clutch. I was outside earlier adjusting it. The problem is when i turn the adjuster all the way one way the ****er gets alot of slack. I also noticed that when u shift in between gears it would catch instead of puting it into a sort of nutral and when u let up the shifer or down pop in gear. Well instead it would go into gear at a certain point.

well now when i turned it the other way i noticed the shifer got really stiff. And the more i turned it the stifer the shift got to where i couldt eve put it in gear. Once i forced it in gear i noticed that it would not have any catch.

well anyway i have it sorta inbetween. Its still sliping just a tad but if u feed it more gas itll catch. I think i can fine tune it a little farther i just did not have the time to becouse i need a new throttle the old one stuck wide open on me. Hehe not good to be going w/o touching the throttle. I see a really cheap twist throttle onebay i may get. that should suit my needs. (btw i just instald a 200x carb. ) man o man that thing was fine. i opend it up and it seemd every part was bigger and stronger or higher quility than the regular 200 carb. I also noticed a little pick up increase (may have also been that i had just adjusted the clutch) but over all i think im workign the bugs out
