I am guess maybe voltage regulator is out. Thats what grounds the sytem to the frame to drain off extra voltage from the stator that the lights dont need. And keep the voltage from getting to high that it will burn your lights out.

so is the voltage regulator the same as the coil? im talkin bout what the spark plug wire is attched to..
Rest your hand on the eng. hole the plug wire and pull it over . if you get zapped it works . the frame is the ground for this system so make shore all ground wires are clean. and making good contact.

Yep try what dads said. And as far as the regulator. It is a small square box bolted right to the frame. And usally it only has one wire going to it.

if you hold the the plug wire without touching a ground you will not get shocked the pull start is covered by rubber wich acts as an insulator and so is the plug wire itself, put the spark plug in the plug wire and ground to frame or engine block you should get a good spark!

well i did that i put the plug on the spark plug wire .and touched it to the frame i saw no spark and felt no spark.. yet when i touch thewire and tire or the frame i get shocked to hell......and it a new plug and ive tried others
:wtf: :upyours: darn it
the coil grounds to the fame so i would run a wire from fram to eng to see if you get spark. the eng may have lost ground some how. do to corosion
