View Full Version : motor burns oil how to tell if its ring or seals?
my freind just got a suzuki quadsport 230 and it smoke like crazy ive never seen anything so bad so im gonna fix it today for him before i take it apart is there a way of telling if its either the seals or the rings? im probly just gonna do both anyways because its such an old machine it has good compression so im thinkin its the vavle seals... anyone?
just got her out what a heavy pig took the top end apart and it seem the oil ring broke and the piston pin seem to have wear in the middle so it scuffed the lcylinder pretty bad im gonna hone it and new piston kit and seals

Those are fun quads,we have a 86 or 87 lt 230,and the thing is bullit-proof.9390
Gotta love the sideways kicker on those, what was suzuki thinking.
nope that was the 250 that had a side kicker not a 230 , 230 has a pull start

Im pretty sure that ealeir year 230's had The goofy kick on them...and POS at that...Constantly Cracked Case's(seen a few cracked cylinders) and like to throw chains an awful lot.....Just my experiance with them.....
The LT230e has the electric start and pull starter, the LT230s has the sideways kicker, and the LT230ge was shaft driven with no rear suspension and had electric and pull starters.
I never had a problem with the chain on mine, its the lack of maintence, any atv or bike will throw a chain if you don't keep up with it.
