250sx really isnt a speed bike, its a HELL OF a workhosue and the master of the trails but its no demon of speed.

If you can find a pipe, thatll really help. Jet your carb. Find a cam if ya can. a Wiseco piston would really help.

there are lots of things you can do to improve acceleration, but not much is available to improve top speed. you're really limited by the shaft drive. it isn't like a chain drive where you can just swap sprockets. about the only thing you can do is put on bigger tires.

now if it's power (acceleration) you're looking for, there is a whole lot out there to be done to one.

will a trx 300 2x4 motor fit in an sx, since they are basicly the same motor?

here's what i've got on mine and it's got some nuts to boast. free flowin exhaust, i assume its a cobra "racing" series. and i picked up a K&N air filter, it was 45 bucks but worth it. Much easier to maintain than the spongers and in my opinion breathes better too. it boots along nicely, i just wish i could pin it in first (not super low) and burn out, but with the auto clutch it won't. can anyone else with a 250sx get theres to rip out in the sand or something? maybe its the fact that i'm running realtors for rear tires, but i wish it ripped out from a dead stop in first.

The tires will only brake free in lose dirt or sand and wet grass . All i can get from a dead stop take off is a wheely. thats because i run a 200x front fork setup.:D

I was looking for a pipe and the only thing i could find was a cobra and the fmf all around 4-stroke... is there anything or anywhere else i could look??

`the answer to the 300trx into a 250sx engine question is yes.
it will fit. i too was waiting to get me hands on a 300 engine until i wrecked my 250sx.
my plan was to punch the 300 out and mod up the 250sx.
but like dan said, you cant gear them so it is kind of like polishing a turd in the speed department. but to increase your take off and power is a big plus when your mud bogging.

The 300 should give a higher top end . thr TRX top speed is the same as the SX , but it is pushing more wate. so on a lighter trike SX that will do 60 mph , should hit 70+:D
