Hoydy y'all --I'm back with another question:

What is the best way to try to get all the metal shavings out of a motor without taking it apart. my 83 250r just blew up yesterday and I am redoing the top end somehow but I need to get the metal out of the bottom. If anyone knows a good little trick I could use it. I would hate to redo it and have it blow up again.
thanks-

have you drain the oil yet if not , i took a magnet rod (retractible magnet) jus wide enough to slide between the counter weights on the crank and that got a bunch of it i also dropped a circlip in there too and thats how i got it out ,also remember changing you oil will get a lil of the fine stuff too

My cousin had the same problem on it was on an 86 rm 80 he ended up filling the bottom up with gasoline and flushing it with that. and while dumping it back into the bucket he put an old t-shirt accross the top as he poured it through and burned the gas in his lawn mower.
