hi again! Now I can't get the piston off of the rod. I thought if you removed the c-clips then the center piece would slide out and the piston would come off.

the clips are out but the center tube won't slide out.

any tips for me so that i don't screw up the rod trying to get the piston out?

I have an 83 250 r

Put a piece of wood between the rod and the side of the case to keep the rod from moving and to not ruin the rod bearings. Then take a deep socket a little smaller then the size of the piston pin. Then give the socket a few taps with a hammer to drive the pin out. I have had a few that were stuck on pretty good.
