Anyone know the stock needle size number for an 85 250r ATC Honda? I have a 28v on it right now.

As far as I know its a PE37A stocker. The needle on it right now is a 28v is says at the top. What is the number/letter of a stock needle? Anyone know? When I got this bike it had a big ole 148 main on it. I am wondering if it has a thin needle as well.

148 isn't too big for a main. I've got 150's and 152's in mine on stock carbs. (one is slightly modded) Don't lean her out too much on top or risk a sieze in a sandwash or steep hillclimb.

My manuals don't show needle #'s...I'm not sure. Good chance it's still stock though.

I am running a 140 main, 2nd clip down from top because of my altitude.

Thats not big at all for a main. Its not too common for people to change the needels. Actualy its perty rare, you have to be perty dang good at tuning carbs to beable to play with swaping needles, main jets pilot jets and a/f mixture screw, and get the sob to run properly.

You know my bike runs like there is a drummer in the power band, and it won't stop drumming untill I have the powerband almost open full. idle to 3/4ths is so terrible, I hope tomarrow the Mikuni will fix most of it. Then the reeds.

I rebuilt my stocker carb today and its almost perfect. Just needs a new piston and rings. The needle that came with my kit said it was a D105. It was a hair wider than my current needle. The bike almost has NO break up. When the power band kicks in, there is a hair slight jump in rpm's then it kicks. Other than that its got a rebuilt silencer, rebuilt carb and Boyesen power reeds in it. In 3 weeks I will throw some new Maier plastics front and back. The bike is really going to start taking shape.
