I just finsihed the top end on my Yamaha YTM 200EL. I had it bored .20 over and dropped a new Weisco piston in it. The reason I did the top end was because it smoked so bad and burnt allot of oil.

Anyway I got it together and road it down the road and back which was about a mile and it ran great. The next day I did the same and it ran great.

Today I get on it and ride it for about 2 miles pretty hard and it ran great BUT it started smoking badly - BLUE SMOKE. It was smoking so bad that when you stop the smoke just clouds around you and chokes you out.

Now I know that blue smoke means oil. I'm wondering if there was still allot of oil left in the exhaust from before and it finally got warm enough that it started burning that oil out. OR do you think it could be something else?

Please Give Me Some FeedBack.

Thanks,

Boy that dosnt sound good. I doudt that old oil in the exhaust would make it smoke like that. I think the best thing to do is do a compression test on it. And see where the problem may be coming from. And double check your head bolt tightness. I had a similar problem on a 200 honda motor. And it was because they use a little rubber oring on the guide pin to bring oil up to the head. And i used the wroung size oring. And after running it for a few minutes. It started leaking oil into the cylinder and it started smoking bad. I am sure yamaha must use something similar. So dont get to bummed out it is probable something simple.
