Around February I had just sold my 1985 200X and that was my dads bike and I wasn’t enough bike for him. I had had that bike for about 3years and I was my project bike but it was time to move on. So when I picked my 86R I was also debating at the time whether to get the X or the R but I went with the X. My dad had an 85X back in 85 and loved but as many as you older guys remember around 88 and 89 people just didn’t want the trikes anymore and they were going dirt cheep so he sold his two 85X’s. So when I came time to get him a bigger bike I knew it had to be an X but where to get one for the $800 I just sold my 200X for was going to be the biggest problem. That’s when Steph (azhondagrl) told be about this one they saw on the Indian reservation a while back and she knew he wanted to sell it. So we took a ride out there and looked it over and asked what he wanted for it and the guy said $700 so I took it. Brought it home and it needed a lot of TLC!!!! First thing we did was the new plastics. My dad had always like the 86 look but we had an 85 so he wanted to do a look a like. So after that it kind of snowballed into what it is now we color sanded the front headlight bezel ordered a new headlight replaced all the rubber on the bike that was still available from Service Honda, repaired the tank thanks to 200xbasket for his beater tank, and then sanded and fixed the dents in the tank and painted it, strapped on a K&N, put the stock exhaust on got rid of the DG, new fork seals and front brake pads, new handle bars and grips, various engine work, and got and 86 decal kit from Harlyn. Maybe at the end of the summer we might tear it all down and paint the frame but for now it looks good and respectable and I saved another one!
