Hi. As you may have read, I have just put on two Maxxis Mud Bugs on my 85 Big Red. Now I need a new font tire. What do you guys recommend for a 4 ply front? Any opinions welcome.

If you do not have full suspention you will not like the 4ply tires. not anuff give makes for ruffer ride.

I'd stick with a good ol' knobby for the front. you don't want an aggressive tread on a wheel that's not under power.

I agree with Dan. I put a new bogger type mud tire on the front of my 84 200s. And it worked great in soft mud and snow. But on hard surfaces like dirt or tar i couldnt turn the thing. I think the best tires for them are the ones they came with. Honda spent a lot of money on tires and research to find the right ones to put on the trike when it was new. To make it handle and steer properly. So the best bet is to find ones just like it came with. They will work the best for all riding conditions.

Thanks for the input guys. The tire I had on before was a Kenda Scorpion 2-ply that I bought three years ago. The reason I wanted a 4-ply is that I've ridden home on a flat three times (twice in the last month) because a sharp branch had gone through the tire. I decided to go with a Duro Excavator 4-ply and it's even better than the Scorpion. It steers easier on hardpack and loose gravel because the top is rounded instead of flat and because of the "zig zag" pattern it really grabs in the clay and mud. If anyone is in the market for a front tire I highly recommend the Duro Excavator. I only had three choices in my size and I know I made the right one. Later.
