I was wondering the best way to go about fixing a leak in the gas tank of my 82 250R. Is there a way to neutralize the inside of the tank so that when I put the torch to it, it doesn't explode? I am going to try to lead solder it. Also, if there is an easier way to go about this, your ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you

hey, when we soldered gas tanks, we put a hose on the car exhaust, to the tank, ran the car until the tank dried out. or filled the tank with water. then used the exhaust to dry it out. whatever you feel comfortable and safe with.

with water your tank will rust-
so far jb weld has worked for me,but i would wrather have had welded it ,i just didnt want to wait for it to dry out
if it dries for a bout a week and you cant smell fuel any more you might be able to do it - i cant say for sure on your part i dont want to get you hurt!!- but i did weld my steet bike tank that way!!
the exhaust trick works because it takes the oxygen out of the air but you need a constant supply of it

Thank you for all of the info. I will probably try the por 15 products because there is also a rust issue with the tank. Hopefully these products will also take care of that for me. They claim that they will.
