i did this to my 200x . all you have to do is flip the shock linkage over and you got like anothere 1 to 2 inches of clearance. i did it and it works great so far.

it should work on your 87 but only if the linkage is longer on the top than the bottom all ya gotta do is flip it over. it is quite easy.

Are you talking about the lower shock mount on the swingarm?.

Hmmm, interesting idea! :)

I have a question though...
Would reversing the linkage put more force/stress on the shock, mounts, linkage and mounting hardware, perhaps causing premature failure?
Just a thought...

Seems like a great idea! :D :headbang:

when you reverse the mount you are changing your swingarm's leverage on the shock as well as the shocks angle while it will physicaly work the shock spring and internall valving will not match these new changes thus changing your shocks effectiveness and possilby stressing other area's like frame and swingarm.
having adjustable linkage is a whole other story useually your are talking about minor changes on a shock that is a lot more complex and is designed for these changes.
so like i said it will go together but how well and how long is questionable?
