Can someone tell me which trikes are which....I keep forgetting which are two and which are four, which has reverse and which doesn't. As you can see I'm a "utility" trike rider currently, which suits my needs well since I usually have a trailer behind me with a load of firewood, or headed to deer camp with gear.

Anyway, I would like to get a SUSPENDED trike prefferably a quiet 4 stroke....I'm thinking a 350x....but then there's two pesky 250sx's in the local paper for $900 that keep calling my name. Aren't those shaft drive, electric start with reverse??? Boy wouldn't that be nice with my trailer hauling duties! Probably has suspension too I suppose? But if that 350x has reverse...I'm all over that!

Anyway, would appreciate the trike lesson if anyone has the time. Thanks.

Finally some trike questions I can answer heheh.
Yeah the 250sx has all that, and rear suspension. If you do alot of work with your trike a Big Red 250es might be for you, although the sporty little 250sx should be able to do it fine also.
About the 350x...it's chain drive, no reverse, and good suspension. It's a racing trike and not made for pulling, although there's a pic on trikeriders.com(I think) with a guy hauling firewood with his 350x.

Sounds like a 250sx is what you want if you're into utility. No reverse on the 350x, but it's thrilling to ride.;)

Is the 250sx 2 or 4 stroke? Did it only come with shaft drive? I looked all over to see if there was a thread anywhere that listed each model and their brief descriptions....couldn't find anything. Maybe someone that knows could list them for those of us not fortunate enough to own three of each! (not you Kasey...I'm just saying..... lol)....anyway, thanks again for the info.

Thanks Jen, I can honestly say that I have NEVER been there. I've heard so many people saying bad things about that site, I never bothered to go check it out! I usually find everything I need to know from you kind folks anyhow! ;)

Hey is that an ok price for a 250sx I think it was an 85...$900 ? Not that my wife will let me buy one right now, but I can talk her into anything with enough time ;)

if it's in good shape $900 is a good price. I paid $800 for mine and it had faded plastic and a torn seatcover.

It sounds to me like the 250sx or 250es (big red) would be your best bet. good luck!

My father informs me that here in canada we have a thing called a telephone and we call people and ask them questions lol j/k. Anyway I belive that it has mainly the same drive train and engine as my quad. And from my experience with it a trike with that motor would be awsome my quads some what of a heavy beast but with leight weight of a trike it'd be great for fun and utility. Good luck man I'd suggest the 250sx for what your doing.

The SX is a great all around machine. Pulling usually isnt a problem with its supper low gear. in case you didnt know its a four speed with supper low. its all except for reverse and it goes sl,1,2,3,4 and the super low is nice for starting off with a heavy load. i have never had a problem with my sx moving stuff. last fall i was moving half peices of telephone poles with it the only thing that stoped me was my crappy trail pro tires. its a good machine though. i like it. its a good work horse alont with being pretty spporty i just wish it had bigger tires. i may have to modify that! some 25's would look good. too bad they dont fit. but 900- isnt bad thats about what i want for mine, when i sell it.

can u still play around on a 250SX like riding 200X or 350X? How fast are 250sx's? Do they have the same top end speed of a 200X?

250sx

stock for stock an SX is as fast as a 83-85 200x. Mine can pull 5000lb cars around a parking lot and up small inclines. :headbang:

the suspension isn't as good as even the 200x, but you can upgrade the front forks to those off a 200x, 350x, or even 250r. Not much you can do about the back though.

The different bikes are for different uses. I live on 5 acres, and have a little cart I use all the time. The 250sx is usually called the "tractor trike". I use it to haul the log splitter, the chipper, and drag things around with a chain. Because it is parked in the front of the barn, I end up riding it most of the time. I take the 350x out on the trails to the river sometimes, and it is just too fast. I have been looking for a nice 250sx for two years now, there has not been one for sale near here.

I talked to a guy on the phone last night who has a 250sx he has owned since new. He uses it on the farm. Says it is in excellent shape except for a small crack on the front fender and says he has never had a lick of trouble with it. Problem is he wants 1200 for it. Who was I to try and talk him down....it's probably worth every penny.....I'm just runnin short on that many pennies right now. In a couple months when I can afford it I won't be able to find an sx anywhere! That's life I guess.

well if it is mint and looks new and is as good as he says it is its worth 1200. i want about 800 to a grand for mine and it has some problems basicly it needs front brakes. and tires other than that its pretty good but around me and in mass, the go for a bit more than i thought it was worth.
