primary stator coil odds of going bad

What are the odds of a primary stator coil going bad? Any symptoms that could definitively isolate it as the culprit?

I had one go bad on a 70 and on an 82 250r.If you can find the specs you can test them with a meter without removing them.They should be in the manuals.

yep...they go bad..I've replaced 3 different ones, one on a yz125, one on a 200x, and one on a 250r...

Definitely need a manual for the ohm specs. It should also be putting out a certain amount of ac volts when the motor is turned over...

I bought a 200S because of a bad stator, kid thought it was a 110 and said he couldn't get anyspark and just wanted it out of the yard.
