I know everyone has trouble pulling these flywheels and you cant usually get them when you need them locally. That usually leads to hammers and screwdrivers. The ones you buy from dennis kirk or somewhere get pretty expensive when you have a bunch of different trikes at 12 bux or more each, especially when its usually just a bolt.

In the Dennis Kirk catalog on the puller page it tells the thread size and pitch So you can just go buy a big metric bolt that size.Try to get the Hard bolts like grade 8 or 8.8 I think they call the metric ones.I get mine at my local napa but there are bolt supply houses in most big towns.FOr a big bolt its usually about 2 bux unless you can find a place where they sell them by the pound. That is usually the cheapest way to buy bolts.
Slap a little grease on the end of the bolt so It can spin on the crank easier and cause less damage.

I don't get how these ATC pullers work. I'm used to the pullers where you have a large center bolt and then two little bolts on each side of the big bolt. You thread the little bolts into the rotor or flywheel and then tighten the big bolt onto the end of the crank and it pulls the flywheel off. Why won't a puller like that work on trikes?

It just a different design flywheel is all. There is an extra set of threads you just thread the bolt type puller into and it pushes on the end of the crank and forces the flywheel off.

Ah ok. Also when looking at it again I see the end of the crank is pretty much flush with the flywheel so the puller I described above may not work.

Bump for an oldie but goody thread.

I took dufrain's advice when I needed to pull my 200x flywheel over the weekend. I went to an Ace Hardware and they had the 14mm x 1.5 pitch bolt I needed. I was worried at first since their metric section was kinda small but they had it. Worked like a charm. It was about $3. I almost spent $20 (including shipping) for one of the pullers on eBay.
