alright, not sure if this should go here, but i was just changing the oil in my quad and accidently spilled some used oil on my plastic when i was dumping it out. well, i no longer am going to buy plastic renew to make my plastic shinny again, as it gives the same, if not better shine back to the plastic. and as i am pretty sure everyone of us has alot of used engine oil laying around in bottles, i havent noticed a side effect to my plastic yet. but it is alot cheaper to use, as all i used was some old rags and wiped oil on the plastic, then wiped it off with clean rags. :D

seems to me dirt and dust would stick to it.

thats why you wipe the excess off with a clean cloth, it leaves a smooth plastic that feels the exact same as with plastic renew

my aunt put used motor oil on the paint of her old '74 Caprice wagon about 10 years ago. It shined it up for a couple years. :D

Wouldn't any petrolium based product degrade plastics?
Anyone put gas in a cheep Styrofoam cup? Lets just say don't leave it over night!
I can't argue with the shine, my friend uses RustCheck to shine all the plastic under the hood of his Chev Pickup.

I agree with Govert but it would work for a cheap ass, for a while at least, it would also accumulate dirt, belive me I know!
