OK there is a mark up top on the engine for top dead center, also a mark on the gear on top i line them both up and get the piston up but everytime i do that i beleive i am getting exhaust outake..I just cant get it in time, would u happen tto have a manual or any ideas..
Turn your cam so the lobes are down. if you had the gear off it may have two positions it can be bolted too the cam. if you dont wont to chainge gear mounting you have to put a mark 180 from the timing mark so you have some thing to line up with.

yes thats it
look at the end of the cam in the pic. like it's a clock. the lobe closes to the gear is the intake it is just coming of intake at two oclock in the pic. Around seven the eng. sould be on compression
or close to it. The lobes piont like at 7 and 4 at TD.

well i tried setting the lobes at 7 and 4 and i couldnt manage to get it in time..I took the cover off the crank and found a line it just might be the mark for the top to line up with the bottom.not real sure though just winging it.do you have a pic of the timing settings u can post on here?? any other suggestions will be appreciated..one more question what server is the chat room on for irc..thanks
Thats the proble I'm having too. winging it. you cant even by a book on it . there should be a cover you remove to see timing mark on fly wheel and there sould be a ttiming mark on the cam and some thing it lines up with. most cam timing is 12 strate up or it could be something like 3 or 6 line up with screw hole or something. look for some kind of mark in with the cam gear and try it.

on the pully theres a "f" and a "t" but neither will line up top dead center when the piston is up,no idea why.so anyone with a manual with step by step instructions would be appreciated very much thank you..all this is frustration please help.....
Where is the piston when you line up with the "T"
I just won a manual on E-bay will have in a week.

rotate it 180 then the piston will be up and the T on the mark. roll the cam over till the valves are loose. this puts the cam in the are of tdc. the cam gear has to have a mark. unless its on backwards. so maybe your mark is on the back. fix that. then look around the in the area it pointing therewill be some thing that its almost pointing at. to help with piston being at TDC remove the spark plug put a rod or screwdriver in the hole to feel the piston. hold the rod lightly and wingle the crank. you will feel the piston move up and down set it at its highest point. on the cam sometimes its a bolt hole or the mark maybe higher than you think. when every thing fails its phone call to the dealer
