A 83 does not have front suspension, a 84 does. They became the 200s in 85

i think it was 83 that thay started to put front shocks on the 185, and started calling an "s", because i had 83 185 that had frint shocks, of course maybe someone stuffed suspension forks of a latter year into it, thank gawd, my 1980 185(that has original stright forks) is a real bone jarring ride, oh well when yer young you can take it i geuss, but i havent met many "old farts" that wanted to have anything to do with them "back breakers" as thay call em.

I have a 82 185s, with straight legs, so the "s" must not mean it had suspension (it would make too much sense - "s" = suspension). unless someone swapped out stuff on mine before I got it. I have seen 83's with legs on them, but not 82's. I know mine is an "s" model, besides all the decals it had, it also say's it on the title.

You guys are correct, I typed the wrong thing before. My 82 185s does not have front suspension, that came with the 83. The original 185 (made in 80 and 81 I think) was the precusror to the big red. It had a motor with a two speed sub trans, and 25 inch tires. I remember that the "s" in 185s stood for "sport" when they first came out.

I have an 84 200s with front shocks. I don't think they made a 185 in 1984.
