View Full Version : Front Sand Tire

I've always my ridden the Oregon dunes with my 350X, using the stock front tire. Out in the trails, nowadays, its all rutted, in some areas kinda deep from the quads. must be like riding on a train rail for the quads. the front tire pretty much just floats on top, and have no steering, and likes to push me the wrong way.
I am running straight cut paddles (skat extreams), I could switch over to like a Sand Skate II type tire for better turning, but was wondering if anyone had better handling/steering with a "mohawk" type front sand tire. I pretty much just ride in the dunes, so I wouldnt have to switch back and fourth between the knobby front tire and the sand tire.
Just wondering if anyone had noticed the difference in a front sand tire.
Thanks

i didn't think it would make that much of a difference but i won't back to knobbie on the front it tracks so much better you will mostly notice it when you shooting up a hill in a straight line.

I use the Kenda front max. These are what they use to make the Mohawk, it just has four more rows of lugs. I run them on all my familys trikes except for my stocker 86R ( it has a Trail Wolf on it, it works pretty good too) my only problems i have while turning is keeping my front tire on the ground

Kenda front max.. hmm looks like a good tire. I'm just running the original front tire that comes stock on these. Probably about time to replace, its starting to get weathered.
Does it seem to ride better on the sand, I know at Sand Lake it gets pretty rough out there on weekends.12003

they work great in the sand, i ride at florence, coos bay all the time and it gets pretty churned up and it still tracks really well

I had the same problem with my stock swingarm and straight cuts on my 350 on the oregon trails...got a few trees with my handle bar marks in them:doh: went to the v cuts and used less air pressure in the front tire (kenda) and now the trails are my favorite:headbang:

yeah some of the trails are pretty rutted out really bad I thought. Sounds like the Kenda tire is the way to go.
